JARA (Jülich Aachen Research Alliance) is a research collaboration between Jülich Research Centre and RWTH Aachen that aims at facilitating fundamental and applied research in the fields of brain research (JARA-BRAIN), energy research (JARA-ENERGY), future information technology (JARA-FIT), High Performance Computing (JARA-HPC) and Forces and matter experiments (JARA-FAME). At JARA-FORUM, the relevance for society of recent research in one of those fields is presented to the general public.
Outstanding young academics are an important cornerstone of excellent research and essential for research in Germany. The Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA) provides good opportunities for young researchers to advance their science and their careers. The proximity to the best minds of a special field, excellent infrastructure and good working conditions are some of the success factors. Using the example of the scientific work of our JARA members in the field of brain research and information JARA wants to show what prospects they can offer to young scientists. The outstanding scientific achievements of young researchers are not least evidence to the success of the cooperation between non-university research institution and university.
Svenja Schulze, Minister of Innovation, Science and Research in North Rhine-Westphalia and Thomas Rachel Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, introduce the 5th JARA-FORUM.
